Welcome to AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) Region #36 serving the City of San Mateo, California.
We are excited you have found the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). AYSO has been providing a world-class youth soccer program for more than fifty years based on our Six Philosophies of Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, Open Registration and Player Development.
Built on the power of volunteer support, AYSO brings together community members to coach, referee and support their local Regions with the ultimate goal of creating a fun, family-friendly environment where your child can grow and develop not only their soccer skills, but their leadership and social skills for life.
Region 36, San Mateo is proud to offer soccer programs during the fall Season for boys and girls ages 5U-19U. Signups begin in mid-April for the following fall season. The season typically starts with practices in mid-August and has 10 weeks of games on Saturdays starting the weekend after Labor Day through mid-August. For ages 10U-19U a tournament typically follows the main season.
The 5U Coed program lasts 8 weeks and follows the AYSO Schoolyard Jamboree program. In AYSO Schoolyard Jamboree, 4-5-year-olds get to play soccer in a developmentally-appropriate program. The children learn soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, and throw-ins in a low-pressure and fun setting. Coaches are provided by Region 36 AYSO for this division. This division consists of a 1 hour session each Saturday for the 8 weeks of the program.
All of the other divisions utilize parent/ volunteer coaches and have weekday practice and Saturday games. The 6U division is coed and others are split between boys and girls teams. The 6U-12U teams play other San Mateo teams for the season. In the 14U-19U divisions the teams will travel within Area 2N to play teams in other local regions.
